At the Affordable Community Resources Foundation, our mission as a comprehensive outreach center is to empower families and communities by addressing their basic, health, social, emotional, and economic needs. This includes supporting the youth, adults, and families within these communities. In essence, there are moments when individuals require aid to maintain, grow, or lead healthy and productive lives.
The gap between those who receive necessary assistance and those who do not can mark the difference between success and failure. It can mean the difference between employment and unemployment, or between a positive self-image and one marred by negative self-perceptions. Our aim is to provide support to individuals and families during challenging times, not just to help them survive but also to cultivate the skills and mindset needed for long-term stability. Our job component offers job training, job search assistance, and equips our participants with the skills to become productive and indispensable workers.
Our youth program addresses issues that directly affect the lives of young people in underserved communities, including barriers to positive educational and social interactions. We concentrate on emotional, physical, and mental health, as well as any difficulties they may face with peers and school interactions. For those at risk of falling behind in their classes, we offer an afterschool tutoring program. We also provide nutrition and childhood obesity counseling, and address other concerns such as teenage pregnancy and self-esteem, all aimed at fostering healthy lifestyle choices. Building strong, viable communities often starts with the individuals and families who live there, and crucially, with our youth.
All activities are approved by our key educator and are scheduled for implementation on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
