CACFP – Child and Adult Care Food Program
When: During the School Year (Afterschool)
Who: Children and teens ages 18 and under
What: Free USDA-approved supper and snack
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is an extension of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and is regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This program allows organizations like ACR to serve free, nutritious meals and snacks to children in afterschool programs.
At Affordable Community Resources, we proudly use CACFP to ensure children continue to receive healthy food after the school bell rings—supporting both their academic success and physical well-being.
When: Summer Breaks & Holidays
Who: Youth up to age 18
What: Free breakfast, lunch, or snack
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is also regulated by the USDA and designed to provide free meals to children when school is out. It bridges the nutrition gap during summer and school holidays by ensuring that no child goes hungry when school cafeterias are closed.
